Sain Nekvos - The Viking God of the Winter Wind

Sain Nekvos was a brutal Viking God, who would come to the aid of believers while in the midst of battle. According to legend, he would give blessings and gifts to those he deemed worthy. To enemies he brought forth the cruel winter wind, which he ruled over. He rode atop Ruedov, the mythical giant reindere beast, whose footsteps would leave a coal-like black stain upon the white snow. Believers would give thanks to him (and friends as well) on the Darkest day in the land, the Winter Solstice.

Over the centuries, his legend changed. Most dramatically came after one particular battle, where he failed to come to the aid of true believers. Soon, tribes far and wide assumed his power had weakened. His myth transformed into children's tales of forgotten times. During Pagan years and eventually after the Romans conquered the land, parents began telling their children of a wise old man, named Saint Nicholas, who would give gifts of gold or food to good children on Dec. 25th.

And that is the true legend of Santa Claus.

--- Here's my sketch. Going to start drawing tonight. Way fun!

Bond baddie

Didn't have enough time for this one so i went off the grid this time. More impressionistic then i would've liked. I did have this idea to give him little robot bond girls for henchmen(women).

Fin

Finished the character painting.  Alls I got to do now is design the sub.

Sunday, November 30, 2008

update:  need to finish up the port hole hatch, do a simple background - maybe with some steel girders or something - and then design the actual sub.   I'm liking how it's coming along, although it's been a finicking process.

Bad-guy redo

Yeah....so I started to really "look" at that sketch from the other night and I realized there was a bunch of things wrong with it.  So I mirrored and suddenly saw what was really bugging me.  He was supposed to be, sorta, robust, and he ended up way too thin.  I then redrew his boots so that they would realistically carry the heavier frame.  And I got rid of the stupid pants. (I was originally going for those deck pants that sailors sometimes wear - the rubber ones. I dunno.  They drew them lame, so see ya later!) I also wanted him to look at the viewer, have a bit more attitude and he needed a weapon - a real one.

So here's my update;  I'll try me best to finish this one up over the long weekend.  Still need to work on his submarine.

bond guy

Just thinking ala sketch. I'm going with classic swarmy bad guy. And since every bond bad guy needs a henchman and he builds machines and you need a hot chick i'm gonna give him a sexy robot henchwoman.

Cue the James Bond theme music....

AKA:  How not to be a lazy bum*

I've been watching Bond movies all week on AMC and it got me thinking of a new villain to create for the next challenge.  I've also been in need of drawing props and industrial designs to flesh out my portfolio, so I thought we could combine both of those into one new villain.

So here goes:  Create a Bond-like Villain, who creates machines, or technological marvels, to do his biding.  Should be normal evil pose, but design whatever machines or devices said villain uses, from at least 2 angles (ex: back and front).  Think Big.  Think Bond-like.  Think Evil guy creating Huge-Take-Over-The-World-Machines.

* (lazy bum is now back in gear and is working on past projects to complete...but just wanted to throw out the next challenge)
