ARTGASM: THE MOVIE!

Coming to a theater never!

Back from the Dead!

So, I've been in a little funk lately.  Haven't drawn much.  Basically work, tv, eh, more-work. blah.  I took a figure drawing class for the past few weeks and, as I was hoping, jumped-started my creativity a bit.

Here's my take on The Doppleganger:
The Hero is a telekinetic human, who's very much in charge of his abilities.  I always figured, though, that if telekinesis really existed it would probably leave the person with some sort of mental handicap.  Like, the brain just can't handle all that information.   In a way, I'm thinking autism, where all the information is stored, but processing is difficult.   Here, my villain has the telekinetic gifts, but he has almost no real control of them.  He lashes out in fits of rage over his circumstances, and is quite powerful.    This is just a real quick sketch.  Just wanted to get some attitude on paper.   I'll have to fix the body and hands some, maybe add in some levitating object, like a car, in the background.   It also sort of looks like Punk-rock Snair...which I wasn't really aiming for.

Doppleganger with a little color

Just screwing around with the color. I figure maybe I'll have to draw the actual hero so this will make sense, but i figure it's fun for people to guess. Pale skin and an ill fitting suit come standard with all evil dopplegangers. I took the standard red, white, and blue but darkened them a bit. Kinda like evil superman in superman 3. He has upside down stars and an eagle skull shoulder pad which you can assume is an actual eagle head shoulder pad on the hero. Also you can assume the hero has red stripes like the flag which i twisted and made look like dripping blood. Power orbs courtesy of some new brushes i got and wanted to try out.

doppleganger first strike: The Anti-Patriot

Somewhere there's a hero called The Patriot and this is his darkside. I'll Probably get to actually drawing him, but I like to leave the guessing to people as to what he may look like based on The Anti-Patriot here.

NEXT CHALLENGE: EVIL DOPPLEGANGER

This challenge is two-fold. First, you have to design a hero. Then design a villain that has taken everything that has made that hero a hero and twisted it into some kind of evil twisted bastardized mirror world version. It's the latter I'm more concerned about, but a side by side comparison would be sweet. That is all, have fun.

Boss and Assistant: The Blacksmith & his Daughter

Word on the street is this guy's an underworld arms manufacturer.  Some call him The Blacksmith.   He's the guy that other villains go to get their crazy, diabolical weapons made. Need a spiked mace that leaks poisonous gas.  Go to him.  Need a gauntlet that also serves as repel line.  This is your guy.  Been following his trail for weeks now.  Not an easy find.

{I haven't done his assistant yet...but right now I'm gearing towards making that character his daughter.  Plan to paint it this week. Update to follow}

Bossman challenge firststrike: Count Tiki and his Shrunken Head

Next Challenge: Boss and henchman

For a long time now, We talked about doing a series of Villain characters. Something to compile into an anthology and to hand-out at a future Comic-con. We're thinking of doing some sort of case file concept, something that a generic super-hero, like say, a Bat-man, would have at his disposal. For a couple of years this idea has sat on shelf, both of us being too busy to get it going. But that's all going to change, because for the next few months all Artgasm challenges will be geared towards Villains.

First Challenge:
In honor of Labor Day --- Boss and Assistant.
Come up with 2 characters, a Boss and an Assistant. It's up to you what exactly that means. It could be evil business man and top henchman. Or it could be something completely out there. But... They need to look as part of the same visual world, so they need to have some sort of familiar relationship to each other. I'd also say that you'll need to show what their relationship is like. Is the Boss mean to the assistant? Does the Assistant secretly want to overtake operations? That sorta thing.
